This mod changes all the METAL basic building parts to require Magnetized Ferrite.
Has this ever happened to you: “Cool cool, so wooden basic building parts take Carbon, that makes sense. And concrete basic building parts take Ferrite Dust, that makes sense too because of concrete powder. So then metal basic building parts should take… Ferrite Dust again? wait… and some of them take Carbon again for no reason?!? What the heck?!”
This mod changes all the METAL basic building parts to require Magnetized Ferrite instead of Ferrite Dust and in some cases Carbon (Seriously, WTH Hello Games, this bug has been in the game for years now! =/ )
I chose Magnetized Ferrite, instead of Pure Ferrite, because other metallic base parts are made from it, like storage containers, and Pure Ferrite was already needed for enough things IMHO. If I get enough feedback about changing it I will consider that.
Installation:
Remove or rename DISABLEMODS.TXT file from the “PCBANKS” folder.
If it does not already exist, create a “MODS” folder in \Program Files.
Copy & paste the included .pak file into this “MODS” folder.
The included .lua file must be used with AMUMSS to create a merged .pak and will not work if you throw it in the “MODS” folder.
Launch NMS and enjoy!
Technical:
This mod modifies the METADATA\REALITY\TABLES\NMS_REALITY_GCPRODUCTTABLE.MBIN file and will conflict with any other mods that also try to modify that file.
A .lua file is provided for compiling a .pak with the help of Mjjstral’s AMUMSS. Please see the references in that utility for installation instructions. I even built in an easy way to change required amounts if desired. Please note that I think the .lua will conflict with mods that reduce the costs of items, so try adding a “Z” to the front of the .lua file name to push it as low as possible on the priority list.
