Today I’m bringing something smaller to the table yet again.
A lovely ReShade Preset that I enjoy using both for regular gameplay and photoshoots as a virtual photographer.
I’d like to say it’s an updated version of my old Enhanced version from my Simple Reshade Presets mod, wich I posted nearly a year ago now (christ, has it really been that long?!)
I like my game to feel natural, not too contrasty, not too “orange” wich is easily achieved by bumping colors up.
(One reason I absolutely despise HDR, it looks super orange to me.)
But just to make things a little nicer to look at, without it being too straining for the eyes. Red Dead’s muted colors are nice, but after a longer amount of time, it’s just not as nice anymore (does that make sense?) This preset should work both for gameplay and photos, however, some effects have to be turned off when your only intention is to use it for gaming. Turn off “fxaa” and “smaa”, as well as “deband”, also turn down “size scale” in ADOF to 0.500 if you notice your frames are dropping badly. Remember that every setup handles this differently, and I can’t assure everyone will have the same experience.
I myself, run a Nvidia rtx 3080Ti gpu, Ryzen 9 5900x cpu, paired with my 4k main display, and I don’t notice many frame drops at all when running this while just gaming. Nor do I notice much difference visually even with my anti aliasing filters off (wich I will get to soon.) I can even use the depth of field bokeh for videos, however I turn the bokeh quality down to around 6 for a still enjoyable experience, and I turn the gaussian blur up to eliminate severe grain if there is any. The bokeh size will determine how much grain you’ll need to eliminate, lmao.
So, this is optimised to use with Quint’s lovely ADOF filter (depth of field)
In order to access the depth in this game you need to:
1. Disable all the anti aliasing filters in Red Dead’s settings.
2. Install ReShade‘s add-on version.
3. You probably also have to install ReShade to the Vulkan API instead of DX12, wich is known for crashes as well as depth access issues, at least from my earlier experiences, meaning you also have to run your game in that said API as well.
If you’re still having issues with the depth displaying incorrectly, try changing the preprocessor definitions.
Set the value “RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED” to 1.
And if it’s showing as upside down, change “RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_UPSIDE_DOWN” to 1 as well.
This should fix most issues.
Aaaanyways, there’s not much else to explain here, I hope you read the description thoroughly, to prevent any issues.
Enjoy the preset! 😀
