A cramped but cosy tiny home on the water dipping into the nautical side of Neon, with aesthetic inspired by Fallout 3 and Skyrim player home mods.
Features and gimmicks:
– Live on a retired fishing vessel!
– Neon player home away from the bustling platform, conveying Neon culture without being a hacker apartment or sleepcrate.
– The boat bobs, and on the inside hanging objects sway back and forth.
– Based on real ships for realism and ‘tiny home’ maximised space configurations.
– Time of day affects lighting – the boat is brightest at midday, darkest in evening, and your eyes adjust to artificial light at night.
– Slightly eerie vibe being near the sea life, you can even hear them when they’re nearby. Sometimes a shark idles by the side of the boat, a happy coincidence.
Please note this isn’t currently a moving vehicle or quest. Anchoring in other locations is a post-1.0 stretch goal.
Where:
Neon exterior, sea level, just under the rain shadow from Ryujin HQ. No unlock quest currently. Possible to jump to it from the landing pad with some skill.
Mod will (fingers crossed) receive at least one planned update. These features are not yet in as I did not know how to do them, if you do then I’d be grateful to learn.
1. Boat customisation and upgrade terminal. Decoration layers already set up, I just can’t script that well yet.
2. There’s meant to be an interior map marker, not working right now but not a great loss.
3. Containers coming very soon. Mannequins maybe later on but safe storage containers first.
4. The mod is intended to have background music, or a selectable radio. Not yet implemented, but you can preview it or download for free here!

There are stretch goals if the conditions are right; A quest to unlock boat access, fishing for income, better visuals, boat exterior skins, and boat travel.
Goes well with my currently unreleased Neon city overhaul mod.
Known issues:
– The only issue that’s actually annoying and not just a nitpick, if you have followers the game gets confused by the little island not part of the base navmesh and wants to teleport you to the ‘ground’ meaning the ocean. I put a jank safety net that returns you to land.
– Followers suck at following you onto the boat since it’s surrounded by water. The interior is navmeshed but it’s cramped to begin with and as for unmodded Vasco… well good luck.
– Sometimes when loading the boat it angles funnily, not certain why, it only happens rarely, and generally fixes itself.
– I had one instance across several dozen tests where a shark was on the deck, staring me in the face. This was so funny that I hope it happens to you too. If this does happen you can just push creatures back into the water.
– I create gravity effect by having a sway anim attached to a sway anim, they are slightly random so occasionally they’ll go in the same direction and look wrong, but I really think only perfectionists would notice.
– The boat bobbing is sometimes a bit intense, the game only has one sway animation and I didn’t make my own.
– When going up or down the ladder the water sound gets quieter and then back on the next use. This seems to be an engine bug.
– The jump seat in the main room has clipping if you exit and enter from in front of it. I know fixes but not worth delaying the mod for.
This mod largely exists to practice and then showcase some level design, and to get momentum for finishing mods. If you really like this, my in-dev mods have a lot of oceanic content like underwater bases, research base POIs, and a submarine, so you can track me for more.
