Shoot it out with bandits, hunt down outlaws and walk the streets with a star. RDR First Response (RDRFR) is an all new experience we’ve created specifically tailored for Red Dead Redemption which ties in seamlessly with the game, turning you into the law.
This first version of RDRFR puts the power of the law into your hands for the first time since Rockstar’s flagship title arrived on PC. Working in conjunction with our Patreon supporters and testers, we’ve built a number of core features into the mod for you to enjoy with the ability to arrest suspects, go on duty and request backup in a manner similar to LSPDFR for GTA V.
Being tailor made towards RDR, though, there’s a couple of key differences in RDRFR. One of the new concepts we’ve introduced is for providing ‘missions’ or ‘investigations’ to the player. Instead of pretending that police radios existed in the 20th Century, you’ll now find that civilians within the world will summon your help the old fashioned way – in person, calling out loudly for the assistance of the law. Similarly, there are other noticeable deviations throughout especially as it relates to arresting suspects and the interaction options available. Instead of having separate key presses or buttons, we’ve tried to keep things as integrated with the game as possible: most of the features and actions in RDRFR are accessed or performed through the game’s contextual prompts.
RDRFR Installation Guide:
The first thing to do is download the latest version of RDR First Response
Copy the RDRFR files into the RDR game folder.
Once you’ve downloaded RDRFR, the next step in the installation process is simply to copy the RDRFR files into the game folder. These are the files that the game needs in order for RDRFR to work.
To do this, open the RDR game folder. This is the folder where RDR is installed, which can be located using the Rockstar Launcher:
Open the Rockstar Launcher and go to Settings
On the Settings page, you should see a list of games on the left.
From the list on the left, select Red Dead Redemption 2 to view its settings.
On the RDR2 Settings Page, navigate to Installation Folder and click Open
Once you have opened the Red Dead Redemption 2 installation folder, it’s time to copy the RDRFR files into it:
First, open the RDRFR zip file that you downloaded to view the RDRFR files.
Click the Extract all tool at the top of the window. You’ll find this in the Compressed Folder Tools context.
Choose the RDR2 Installation Folder as the Destination
Click Extract
Once extracted, you should now see that the RDR2 Installation Folder includes the RDRFR files. You can verify this by checking if a folder called RDRFR exists. If it does, you’re good to go.
Customize your experience with the RDRFR.ini Configuration File
You may optionally wish to customize your RDFR experience by editing the various options in the RDRFR Configuration File. This allows you to change the default loadout used when going on duty, the various player characters available and other miscellaneous settings.
You can make configuration changes by opening RDRFR.ini in any text editor, and changing the values as you please:
The RDRFR.ini file is found in the RDRFR folder in your RDR2 Installation Folder
Play RDRFR using the RAGE Plugin Hook
Once RDRFR is installed, you’ll need to launch the RAGE Plugin Hook (RPH) to play it. RPH is a modding tool that allows custom plugins (like RDRFR) to be loaded into the game. To start RDR with the RAGE Plugin Hook, simply launch the RAGE Plugin Hook application. This will start RDR via the Rockstar Launcher with the RAGE Plugin Hook enabled.
The RAGE Plugin Hook offers a settings dialog where you can choose which plugins should be loaded by default. Make sure that you select RDR First Response to be loaded by default, so that it will automatically be loaded whenever you start the game with the RAGE Plugin Hook. This is the default setting.
If all goes well, you should be able to see some sheriff star icons on the game’s map. These are the police stations/sheriff’s offices which you can enter, and it is from there that you can go on duty as a lawman.
