Intro

“Conquer the air with the Airspeeder.”

T-47 Airspeeder, a.k.a Snowspeeder, is a vehicle that has a repulsor to glide over the planetary surface under harsh conditions. Its anti-gravity function is extremely superior, but of course it’s no match for X-wing. Nevertheless, it does its job pretty decently. You can use this vehicle to travel from POI A to POI B in Starfield in seconds.

Specifics
▶ standalone
▶ Enjoy the accelerated atmospheric flight.
▶ The boost is infinite and continuous whether horizontal or vertical.
▶ The vertical cap gets removed for this vehicle only upon activation.
▶ Laser beam cannon deals more damage and ammo capacity doubled
▶ thrusts faster and glides longer with engine turned off in water

Warning (Achtung!): This mod may decrease your FPS dramatically. Download at your own risk.

User manual

▶Activation:
Stand right in front of the vehicle (strongly recommended) and activate the vehicle to enter.

▶Navigation:
T-47 uses the same boost keys for forward (thrust) and upward (lift) movement.
I intentionally increased its vertical boost greatly in order to minimize the chance to accidentally fall onto the ground, so even gently pushing the “jump” key will make you stay airborne.

So, to initiate the flight, gently push the jump key and hold down sprint key immediately to move forward fast, which is the same as when using a boost pack.
To continue the flight, use the vertical boost whenever necessary to maintain the altitude while moving forward (keep holding down the sprint key to go faster)
So, from the side view, your vehicle will traverse the planetary surface drawing a sine or cosine graph (a wave form). As of today, I can say it’s essentially a superior hovercraft. However, I meticulously and painstakingly calibrated the vehicle parameters through numerous attempts and experiments in order to give it a feel more of a fighter jet rather than of a chopper.

You can go as high as you want using vertical boost, but definitely will bump into a limit or a glitch water surface (Vasco describes it as deep water) where you cannot move any more. In that case, go higher and you will be automatically sent back to the ground zero. Or a load a previous save. So, it’s a good practice that as soon as you see a “new gray horizon (stratosphere?)” appear, you’d better stop and descend.

NOTE: the vehicle remembers the initial slant of the ground and maintains the angle, which can be quite bothersome in flight. You can adjust the level by firing a couple of lasers and when you think it’s leveled correctly, you can use forward boost to fix the angle and continue.

▶Companions
You can have 1 passenger and Vasco with you. If you use a multiple companion mod, you can have them both on board.

▶ I don’t recommend saving the game while on board. Always get off the vehicle and save, because only that way you will have your vertical cap removed by activating the vehicle. You must see the message “I believe I can fly” appear to be able to ascend with no vertical limit. If you accidentally saved the game while aboard the vehicle, simply exit the vehicle re-enter it to see the message, “I believe I can fly” again and fly away.

Known issues
The collision is really bad. You will see your companions and yourself come and go though the wings and the back of the vehicle, but as of now there is nothing I can do about this. will fix this in the future.
Ship mesh collision and vehicle mesh collision seem to be totally different. Even after countless attempts to circumvent this issue, I coudn’t figure it out.

Disclaimer
This mod is extremely audacious and experimental in nature. I think Starfield engine is not designed to have this kind of feature in game, because it is too taxing for the system – loading too many assets in too short a period of time will break or halt the gameplay. FPS will be horrible. Your GPU or CPU can fry and be made unusable.
Download and use this mod at your own risk. My computer has not been broken yet running very smoothly even after innumerable experiments using this mod, but it may be just me. 😉
