This mod, while works on its own, is best combined with Gnome Ann’s Sky, a mod that adds 100,000 new skies to the game (base game currently only uses 6 skies for all original planets, and a handful more for Lava and Swamp biomes).
Like Gnome Ann’s Sky, Gnome Ann’s Dusks adds 1,000 custom skies to the game, generated from a hand-tuned algorithm, using custom software I wrote to produce the colours and visualise and tweak the results. The key theme is “variation”. While most of the skies are geared to be stunningly beautiful, and would fit well alongside vanilla palettes, being very tame, no colours are truly ruled out and you can, in keeping with the feel of the game, never truly know what to expect next!
The algorithm produces colours in various levels of “rarity”, so keep hunting for that incredible sunset that Gnome Ann has imagined before!
Philosophy
After seeing that the sunset on Mars is blue, and noticing that EVERY planet in No Man’s Sky, regardless of its sky colour, has the exact same, earthy red/orange sunset, I set out to make my own.
It’s created under the assumption that almost any colour combinations are possible for sunsets, which is scientifically plausible. Expect not just the beautiful, but the very alien too.
I will strive to keep the sunsets exactly the same, i.e. the sunsets on your favourite planets will always remain the same! (unless HG bork things)
Instructions
This mod can be installed on its own, it does not require any other mods, (not even Gnome Ann’s Sky).
Simply extract the DRKAII_GnomeAnnsDusks1K[Next Gen].pak into your MODS folder.
If you haven’t got this, go to C:\…\Steam Library\steamapps\common\No Man’s Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS and make a MODS folder and stick the mod in there. Then go back up a level to the PCBANKS folder and rename the DISABLEMODS.TXT to something else
