If you have been playing ATS for a while, you would notice the game spawns AI vehicles at a balanced rate that makes the majority of AIs spawn nearly everywhere.

However, in real life, certain car brands are more dominant in specific states than others, like Ford in Wyoming and Arkansas or Honda/Audi in California.

To put it simply, this mod’s main purpose is to adjust the AI spawn rate and spawn area to relatively reflect US Car Culture better.

What I did was simply reclassify all the models to their accurate class (Compact to Full-size, Muscle, Pony, etc) plus their type (SUVs, Sedan, Pickup trucks), and then collate them with shared statistics of vehicles of their respective brands from the Internet and ChatGPT to get the desired number I wanted.

Therefore, with this mod, you should be seeing more sedan-type in plain/urban states, while pickup trucks and SUVs would be more noticeable in rural/mountainous states.

Below are some pictures captured in-game to give you a quick glimpse of traffic in some states. (g_traffic is set to 2 and is used for reference only

Los Angeles, CA – State with the highest share of sedan-type vehicles, which would make you catch various of them in traffic
Phoenix, AZ – Similar to CA, Arizona also slightly favors sedan-type vehicles more.
Casper, WY- Rugged Terrain and harsh weather are what make it one of few states that have a high share of pickup trucks
Colorado Springs, CO – Being a mountainous state also makes Colorado has more use of SUVs and Pickup trucks.

IMPORTANT:

For compatibility, this mod should be compatible with any traffic density/realistic traffic mod, as this mod just modifies specific spawn rates from the country folder. Additionally, I also recommend pairing this mod with a traffic mod (recommend Cip’s RTD) and use default g_traffic, this would make the AI spawn change more naturally while still noticeable.

I am not from the US, and the data I used might be outdated. Therefore, constructive criticisms, feedback, and suggestions are all welcomed. As this mod leans towards realism, I want to make this as accurate as possible.

Besides SCS base AI in-game, I have also made add-ons for Jazzycat’s AI Traffic and Classic Car Pack , which supported his mod’s latest version. Download links for them are below.

Lastly, the mod currently only support base map + all map DLC. AI will still spawn in states that come from map mods, but all will use the default spawn rate instead. If this mod working well then I will add support for popular map mods such as EMMN and C2C in near future.

LOAD ORDER: BELOW any traffic mod and ABOVE AI Traffic Pack. If you are using any Realistic AI Traffic Coloring, such as the one from CairamR, put this mod ABOVE those as well

All vehicles have been reclassified according to their proper segment (Compact to Full-size, Muscle, Pony, etc.) and type (SUVs, Passengers, Pickup Trucks).
All vehicles’ spawn rates have been adjusted, with the ratio based on brands’ market share and the model popularity itself.
Realistic vehicle specs make AI acceleration and speed look more natural.
Diversity between classic, modern, and sport vehicles with add-ons, helps improve the AI spawn to be as realistic as possible.
Some rare vehicles will now actually be “rare” and would need ideal weather, time, etc conditions to catch a sight of it.

Added support for 1 new state: ILLINOIS

This update marks the end of the diversity rework process.

Balancing will occasionally come to adjust the spawn rate of some vehicles, but a major change won’t likely come in the next couple of months until some states release their quarterly report.

The mod will now shift back toward the original plan with focusing on adding support for other states, more AI pack support, realistic coloring, etc.
