The Caterpillar 3406E debuted in 1993 and was the first Cat engine to feature full electronic ewngine control. One notable feature was that the ECM’s on the majority of the series used diesel as a coolant. Production ran till 1998 at which point it was succeeded by the C-15 starting with the 6NZ serieal prefix engines.
