The classic 1983 Mercedes-Benz L 1114 arrives in Euro Truck Simulator 2, featuring its signature semi-forward control cab, robust chassis, and period-accurate diesel mechanics. A historic truck in Argentine transport, it is ready to recreate traditional cargo, grain, and livestock hauls across national highways and rural roads.
The mod includes the original mechanical configuration as well as a higher-power alternative inspired by the Mercedes-Benz L 1518.
ORIGINAL ENGINE — MERCEDES-BENZ OM 352
Original naturally aspirated configuration of the L 1114.
Engine: Mercedes-Benz OM 352.
Type: Four-stroke diesel, naturally aspirated.
Cylinders: Inline-6.
Displacement: 5,675 cc.
Bore x Stroke: 97 × 128 mm.
Reference Power: 145 HP SAE at 2,800 rpm (approx. 130 CV DIN).
Reference Torque: 37 kgf·m (approx. 363 Nm).
Fuel System: Mechanical diesel injection pump.
Cooling: Liquid-cooled.
Valvetrain: Overhead valves (OHV).
Mechanical Character: Progressive operation, response typical of a naturally aspirated diesel, and power delivery suited for the heavy transport demands of its era.
OPTIONAL ENGINE — MERCEDES-BENZ L 1518
Higher-power configuration based on the turbocharged OM 352 A.
This option replicates the mechanical setup of the Mercedes-Benz L 1518, a truck with greater capacity and power. This is an additional option for the mod, not an original naturally aspirated engine for the L 1114.
Engine: Mercedes-Benz OM 352 A.
Type: Four-stroke diesel, turbocharged.
Cylinders: Inline-6.
Displacement: 5,675 cc.
Bore x Stroke: 97 × 128 mm.
Rated power: 160 DIN hp at 2,800 rpm.
Rated torque: 46 kgf·m (451 Nm) at 1,800 rpm.
Fuel system: Mechanical injection pump with turbocharging.
Cooling: Liquid-cooled.
Valvetrain: Overhead valves (OHV).
Performance characteristics: Higher torque at low RPM, better heavy-load handling, and more energetic response on inclines and during acceleration.
TRANSMISSION AND DRIVETRAIN
The L 1114 used a Mercedes-Benz manual transmission with five forward gears and one reverse gear. Historical variants included the G3/36 and G3/40 gearboxes, featuring gear ratios adapted for heavy-duty work.
Clutch: Single-plate dry clutch, mechanically actuated.
Original gearbox: Mercedes-Benz G3/36 or G3/40, depending on configuration.
Gears: 5 forward + 1 reverse.
Drivetrain: 4×2, with rear drive axle.
Differential: Heavy-duty rear axle with final drive ratio options and high/low range reduction, depending on the version.
Optional transmission (from the 1518): G3/60 manual gearbox (five speeds plus reverse), paired with the OM 352 A engine in the corresponding historical configuration. CHASSIS, SUSPENSION, AND BRAKES
The vehicle features a structure designed to withstand continuous operation and heavy loads.
Chassis: longitudinal rail frame.
Front suspension: rigid axle with longitudinal leaf springs and hydraulic shock absorbers.
Rear suspension: drive axle with longitudinal leaf springs and an auxiliary load-bearing setup.
Brakes: drum brakes on both axles, with air assistance in the model’s original configuration.
Steering: mechanical (in period-correct configurations, depending on equipment).
Engine cooling: liquid-cooled system with radiator and mechanical fan.
