A WIP No Mans Sky terrain overhaul mod. Also includes a couple of other improvements.
So lately i have been experimenting with the terrain generation of No Mans Sky, and was trying to push the engine to its limits.
This mod has a couple of things:
Terrain Generation
The mod essentially unclamps Hello Games’ procedural algorithms for terrain generation. Sudden but stunning steep caves, ocean planets, rough terrain, enormous valleys, mountains so big that they reach the clouds, this mod has it all!
On top of a huge mountain, approx. at cloud height
Increased Planet Detail
Carefully tweaked planet object values, resulting in pretty “alien” looks, increased planet detail and breathtaking views.
Biomes finished:
– Barren
– Frozen
– Lush (partially)

Please note that this may have a performance impact on some systems!
Overhauled Caves
IMO, the caves always were a bit underwhelming and relatively boring to explore. This mod aims to fix that with weird and unexpected cave formations coupled together with breathtaking detail.
Detailed caves like never seen before.
Other
– All hazard screen overlays have been AI upscaled to ensure a sharp image.
– Terrain tilemap textures improved, also with AI upscaling.
– Water has been improved with a better foam texture, bigger waves and minor changes for more umph.
– Clouds now cast shadows.
– Minor changes to asteroid fields.
