Enemies Boarding My Ship V1.2

Enemies Boarding My Ship V1.0

Enemies actively try to dock onto your ship during combat in order to board it. In space combat, there is now a constant risk of being boarded yourself. The risk increases with the interests of the factions and the condition of your ship.

When you are in combat, your opponents will try to board your ship. This depends on the attacking faction.
For example, the Crimson Fleet will try to board you at all costs in order to make a profit. They are pirates, after all, and willing to take high risks.
The Va’ruun or the Spacers, on the other hand, would rather see you dead. They are not particularly interested in your ship. The other factions have their own interests, whether they want to capture you or scatter your ship across the vastness of space.

Why this mod was created

The mod Better Boarding Encounters adds the possibility for the enemy to board your ship, but
only if you actively dock with the enemy ship yourself.

However, this made little sense to me. I don’t dock with a ship to be boarded myself.

The boarding process must therefore take place independently during combat. This means that when I am attacked, I must always expect that someone will try to board my ship.

And that’s what this mod allows. It is therefore the precursor to the Better Boarding Encounters mod.

How it works

Certain conditions must be met for enemy ships to dock.
Either the drive is severely damaged, the grav drive is severely damaged, or the shields are down and the hull is significantly damaged. A random value is added to these conditions.
These conditions depend on the level set in the gameplay options.
Three levels + default (ON) can be set in the gameplay options.

In addition, the distance between you and the potentially capturing ship must be less than 400 metres.

Only when these conditions are met are the capture interests of the attacking faction added.

No one said that boarding a ship is safe for the enemy.

If all of the above conditions are met, the drive is disabled for 10 seconds. A message appears in the top right corner.

Once the enemy has docked, this mod has done its job.
From this moment on, the Better Boarding Encounters mod takes over.
I strongly recommend activating the ‘Always’ setting for ‘Better Boarding Encounters’ in the gameplay options.
It makes no sense for enemies to dock but then not board the ship.

Gameplay options

The mod can be completely disabled in the gameplay options and reactivated at any time.

The chance that an opponent will try to dock onto your ship during combat in order to board it increases with the set level.

OFF: Mod is disabled
ON: Mod is enabled and the default chances of enemies boarding is activated.

Level 1: Low chance of enemies boarding.
Level 2: Medium chance of enemies boarding.
Level 3: High chance of enemies boarding.

Factions:

ON:
The chance that the enemy will try to dock with your ship in order to board it also depends on the attacking faction. The chance is highest with the Crimson Fleet and lowest with the Spacers and Va’ruun. The other factions fall somewhere in between.

OFF:
Factions have no influence on the boarding chance.

Installation:

Install either with Mod Manager or manually add the files in the data folder.
