Since the new game difficulty settings made eating worth the effort I got more interested in actually crafting food…then quickly grew frustrated by all those crates of ingredients I couldn’t loot…
I’ve replaced all of the static fruit, vegetable, and beer crates with lootable containers. Each container is limited to the appropriate item, and I’ve somewhat “randomized” (…for VERY loose definitions of that word…it’s a list of 6 possible values) the amounts you’ll find in each box. You’ll always find at least one onion, tomato, beer, etc. though.
Fruit:
Grapes
Oranges
Peaches
Pears
Plums
Watermelon
Veg:
Carrots
Celery
Lettuce
Onions
Potatoes
Tomatoes
Beer:
Dark beers
Pale Ales
Red Ales
What I’ve done:
– I used the original models for each type of container (an artist I am not), so no changes there at all
– Created custom containers/form lists for each container; containers are marked to respawn
– Global search/replace for each of the static objects
I don’t think this will conflict with anything. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and haven’t noticed any problems. I’ve checked every area I’ve gone too (several different POI types and the larger hubs) and it seems to have worked as intended.
Notes:
– I haven’t started playing Shattered Space yet, so this doesn’t do anything there. I’ll likely upload another version for the DLC when I get around to it, if there’s interest.
– This won’t replace anything in other mods. I’m thinking of writing a script to do this, which would make it a bit more expansive…but I’ll have to figure out scripting first XD
– You can see in the screenshots the process even seems to respect area ownership in some cases!
Installation notes:
There are currently two versions up for download…only download and install one version at a time:
Produce (Fruits and Vegetable) and Beer Crates: This version requires the Trackers Alliance creation to be installed. This will also be the version I add future DLC requirements to.
Produce and Beer Crates – Base game only: This version only requires Starfield.esm…no DLC required!
Requires: Trackers Alliance creation – One version of the mod requires this; there is also a version which does not
