This mod is designed to create an immersive and realistic look, particuarly during nights. Some changes are subtle, some are obvious, but almost all make the weather feel lifelike, still retaining the original art style intended for the game.
Firstly, Id like to shout out no12 and WhyEm for their great vestigia and visuals mods which inspired this, and which have both been partly used in this mod.
This mod can be used standalone, however I strongly recommend pairing it with either of the two mentioned mods, because they both add a lot that
you dont get in the vanilla game.
INSTALLATION
Only do 1
1) Standalone – Simply put the immersive weather folder into your LML folder. You may need to give it a higher priority if that dosent work.
OR
2) Add on – Install WhyEm’s visuals or Vestigia, then download this mod. Replace the timecycles files in either of those two mods with the timecycles files in this. Optionally you can also replace the precip files the same way, which changes how the rain drops look. You DO NOT need to also add the immersive weather mod, or do anything with the install.xml.
Both WhyEm and no12 have given permission for this to be public.
This is also a beta, not the finished mod, and things will change, fog and misty weather particuarly and some of the nights like thunderstorm and hurricane are not done. I found that a lot of the nights were so bright it didnt feel like night at all, so i wanted to keep immersion throughout the day.
Next changes include improved rainy weathers at night.
Some changes include – better more subtle transitions between weathers, for at night it will slowly get darker and slightly more blue as you go from clear skies to rain and more extreme weather.
Most of the weathers look more neutral, especially in places like valentine, less blue tint in the distance, more realistic sunlight, more grey/ white colours in the snow. It still retains the art style in places like rhodes, which will still have the orange tint.
The most noticable changes are at night, where nights are no longer blue, and are more black and neutral, like the ground is illuminated by the moon rather than a blue lamp. The moon and stars are smaller like they should be, nights are the most dark 12-2am and get brighter towards 6am.
NOTE – the mod is designed to look best at about 50-70 brightness, it can look a little dark or too bright outside that, so mess around and find what works. Nights are supposed to be darker than vanilla, (its nighttime) but still bright enough to see.
