This is my first mod, I expect there will be some issues and growing pains. I will be actively tackling any bugs that are reported.
You can access the map by travelling to Volii Alpha and landing at the anomaly near Neon. A new game should not be required.
My intention for this mod was to roughly create the exterior of Kestro City and contribute towards the starwarsification of starfield. This isn’t a faithful adaptation of any single source and I’ve taken creative liberties where I felt it made sense to do so. I have added a couple of stores and crowds so that it is minimally functional as a city. My hope is that people will like the city enough that they will want to add their own ideas, whether that be with new interiors, followers, quests, or in any other way. At some point in the distant future I might flesh things out with an update.
For anyone who wishes to make changes, contribute, or produce their own dependent mod(s), you have my thanks and permission. I won’t
be uploading this for Xbox, though, if someone wishes to convert it for free use, then, they are more than welcome to. As a warning, geometry is packed into the nifs using 3DS, so, it would be a time consuming process.
Installation and recommendations
Shattered Space is required.
Download the Vardos file from the files tab on this Nexus page.
Extract the downloaded files and place them in your starfield directory.
Enable StarWars_Vardos.esm in Mod Organizer 2.
I will provide an ESM for quick updates so that the mod does not need to be re-downloaded in its entirety. Simply replace the StarWars_Vardos.esm in your main directory with the updated version available in the files tab.
The following mods are highly recommended and should be placed higher in the load order:
Star Wars Aliens by Radicalclownfriend.
Star Wars Droids by Radicalclownfriend, please remember to enable the SW Aliens Droids patch provided in the download.
UC Empire by Radicalclownfriend.
Star Wars Blasters and Melee by Crozzbow.
Star Wars Spacer Overhaul by Crozzbow.
Enhanced Lights and FX by Anamorfus.
The Star Wars mods are hard requirements. Enhanced lights and FX is not, though you may experience some lighting issues without it (I didn’t in testing). If you have any additional mods, then, you may need to play with your load order to find what works best.
Features
The city is navmeshed with crowds and followers capable of moving across the map.
There are six interiors for the city, a weaponsmith, armorsmith, droidsmith, a resource depot, a cantina, and the city hall. They are all located in the shopping district (check images).
The weaponsmith will sell star wars themed weapons based on Crozzbow’s amazing work, I’ve tried to limit this so that no rebel weapons are sold (this is an imperial planet).
The armorsmith will currently sell armor and clothing. Available will be basic imperial gear, stormtrooper armor, imperial themed clothing from UC Empire, and Crozzbow’s spacer armors. Ideally, a seperate armor and clothing store would have been made and imperial gear acquired through faction engagement rather than purchased in a store. It’s early days yet and that remains a possibility for the future.
A droidsmith is also avaialble to sell Radicalclownfriend’s amazing droid skins for your companion.
The cantina is located in the park within the city area, it has a bartender that will sell some reskinned star wars themed drinks and the odd crew member that you can hire.
The main tower, the city hall, has an interior, it’s roughly based on concept art and probably needs some more polishing. It currently doesn’t have a specific function, I’ve got a couple of crew members spawning in there at the moment.
There is a tram (teleport) available in the underground area to/from the opposite end of the map at the back of the city.
