Changes space combat to be more realistic and balanced. If you hate current space combat being too easy and other mods that give u insane pirate counts (quantity), this mod designed NPC and player’s ship power instead (quality).

Well, have you ever noticed that No Man’s Sky space combat is too easy? You are regenerating after 3 second at intense speed, their weapons are too weak to be compared to your triple S upgraded guns S class ship, they die after three seconds of laser… etc. Most mods in No Man’s Sky just intended as cheat that even make these easier, the difficulty mods didn’t make the cut: instead of making dogfight interesting they spawn more and then spin in circles to re-engage you

So then, after all these “mess” i decided to design Player, NPC spaceships behaviour and their AI flags, to represent “balanced” experience on your fully upgraded S class ship, where taking pirates now requires coordination between team members, and when you really appreciate your combat frigate friendly fighters and sentinel neutral patrol to help deal with the pirates.

There’s slight pirate count bumps, but in realistic amount and it represent a team, their AI is maxed and each of any NPC ship stats (in same class) has same stats, they have same hp and same damage, either it’s pirate, traders, your freighter backup, sentinels they are “exactly match”.

For example:
Bounties:
Easy Bounty= 3 pirates (vanilla=1)
Medium Bounty= 5 pirates (vanilla=1)
Hard Bounty= 7 pirates (vanilla=2)

This also nerf your shield regeneration, vanilla you are regenerating after 3 seconds not taking with 6 multiplier, now it’s regenerating after 10 seconds not taking damage with single, yes, 1 multiplier. This means your ship regenerates slowly, and almost impossible to regenerate anything in combat unless they shooting something else instead of you. You gonna learn how to distract your enemy and slowly regain shield overtime.

This mod also buffs their weapons and hp
In vanilla, regular pirates has low hp like 6200 while the most dangerous one that only spawn one have 30000, even you can defeat the 30000 with three missiles, or 6 seconds with your fully upgraded phase beam. The other pirate dies within 1 second of beam or one missile shot. So this mod changes it. Now all NPC have 30000 HP, yeah, the same HP the hardest bounty pirate has.
Their photon cannon rate of fire tick increased from each 0.15 (normal photon cannon rate of fire 1/7 sec) to 0.14 to simulate the 3 upgrades player has(6% extra rpm), not really gonna do much but it just to reflect player stat.
Their phasebeam, however, will do the same output as player’s S class upgraded phasebeam, and they will only shoot their laser if they get close, it means that you both should deal same damage and shield-suffering on each close quarter encounter, rewarding accurate missile or any sniping at long range.
You gonna love your team AI(s) from combat frigate deal devastating damage just like pirate has and not only there to show.

I left the shield recharging as is if you prefer to fight on, but to experience the real combat, stop using that 😀
