Classic RDR1 Scars aims to make John Marston’s face textures as accurate to the final release of Red Dead Redemption (2010) as possible, by combining both the John Marston Classic RDR1 Face and the John Marston Classic Stubble mods into one, modifying it’s cheek, nose and upper lip scars to resemble the straight and narrow ones present in the 2010 game, removing the bottom lip scar and AI upscaling the textures from 1024×1024 to 2048×2048, using Topaz Gigapixel AI (included in the downloads is a version with the original resolution, for people who can’t run the 2x resolution textures).
Included with this mod are both player face textures, the clean shaven face and the extra clean shaven face. The clean shaven face now has a thicker and darker stubble, and the extra clean shaven face has been replaced with a rendition of the Gentleman’s Attire shave from RDR1. Oh, and how could I forget, this mod also changes every single face texture of NPC J.M. as well, making the stubble more consistent with the player’s darker stubble and with the visual process of the scar healing remaining intact.
Unfortunately, nothing is perfect. Due to the different position of the scars, the stitches present in Chapter 1-2 and any beard model, including John’s prison beard from Chapter 6, will be misaligned. Due to this I have included an optional file that removes the stitches and the prison beard. In the future, once we have full model support from OpenIV, we plan on fixing this.
This should be fairly simple. First make sure you have Lenny’s Mod Loader (LML) installed, and then simply drop all the files into your Red Dead Redemption 2 directory.
Mods that I use and are present in the screenshots. Please install them in this exact order, and before installing our mod, to avoid overwriting the files.
John Marston Restoration Project
Absolutely necessary because of the beta head model. Also adds other cool improvements to Epilogue John.
The Classic Cowboy
Makes the textures of the Cowboy Outfit more accurate to RDR1
The Original Bounty Hunter
Makes the textures of the Cowboy Outfit even more accurate to RDR1, but doesn’t include things like the boots and spurs.
Classic Marston Equipment Retexture
Makes the textures of John’s equipment more accurate to RDR1, like the bandolier, gun belt, holster, etc.
1.00 Fitment
Gives back John’s torso model from the 1.0 version, making his shoulders narrower and more similar to the NPC model.
John Marston Animation Overhaul
Changes a lot of John’s animations to resemble RDR1. Doesn’t include facial animations.
John Marston Facial Animation Overhaul
Changes John’s facial animations to make him angrier, resembling RDR1. Only includes facial animations.
No More Arthur Animations (For John)
Makes John walk like himself when around Beecher’s Hope, and doesn’t affect Arthur at all.
