Did you (like I always do) end up with 99 of almost every kind of meat in your legendary satchel, because cooking them one by one is so tedious that you postponed it for far too long?
In case you nodded yes, I wanted to share this lightweight script with you. I created it so that I could be spared the agony of micromanage-cooking all my RDR2 venisons, muttons, porks and etc. (it just isn’t any fun having to press the mouse or keyboard at least twice for every new piece of meat that you wish to cook).
Time required to make this work: less than 5 minutes
Difficulty: easy – just follow the instructions
Maintenance: none – it can never stop working/be outdated, since it’s not relying upon the scripthookrdr2 software or any mod loading software that needs to be up to date with the current game version.
To be able to run the script you first need to download and install a free program called AutoHotkey. It is a very well known and safe freeware program.
Then download my mod and unzip/unrar it anywhere you want.
How to use it?
Launch the script by double clicking it, alternatively right click and select run script. You can do this before or after you started RDR2 – but before is easier (then don’t need to ALT-TAB to desktop and back)
When you are by a campfire, cook the first item of the type of meat that you want to cook many of, and select if you want to eat it (E), or store for later (R).
After this you can now press F4 and go AFK (away from keyboard), if you want. The script will cook all of your remaining meats of that same category until you have no more meat to cook. If you wish to abort the scripted cooking before your whole stack has been cooked, you can just press F4 again.
Remember to disable the script by pressing F4 when you have finished cooking your stack of raw meat! Otherwise it will keep spamming the hotkeys ”R” and ”Spacebar” almost constantly, and that may be inconvenient for you.
If you want to do another stack of another kind of meat, just cook the first piece of meat yourself, eat or store it, and then activate the script again with F4.
If you have changed the RDR2 default hotkeys for “store cooked food for later” (R) and “cook again” (Space), it needs to be changed in the script also. The script is assuming you are using the default hotkeys (R and Space). If you need my help with changing anything in the script, let me know by writing a comment in “Posts” section.
It is also easy to change the default hotkey that activates and stops the script (F4) to another key. Instructions are within the script, just open it with any text editor. I am happy to help also if you need, just leave a comment in “Posts” section.
This script is intended for story mode only. Using it during online play may result in your account getting banned!!!
Happy hunting folks (and cooking)
Version 2
Try this version 2 first. Unzip/unrar it anywhere. Then double click to launch it. To activate the script in-game, press F4. To stop the script, press F4 again.
Version 3
Use this version 3, instead of version 2, if your game has trouble registering the key presses from the script.
Unzip/unrar it anywhere. Then double click to launch it. To activate the script in-game, press F4. To stop the script, press F4 again.
