Adds a strongly needed buff and the Chameleon effect to the Ryujin Operator Suit and Helmet…
What this?
This modification is adding the following buffs to the Ryujin Operator Suit and Helmet:
1. Suit: adding the legendary Chameleon effect by default, so it actually makes sense those hyperintelligent AI-bots don’t see you
2. Suit: adding the Hazmat Suit enviromental mod, to actually give reason to favor this suit over the Hazmat
3. Suit&Helmet: slightly increasing their value to match changes
4. Helmet: adding a small enviromental and damage reduction mod
5. Helmet: adding the same 25% harder detection to the helmet if you want to use it without suit
6. Helmet: adding the same level based reward offset as the suit to adapt mod points to leveled quest reward
But why?
I’m usually not the stealthy player. I prefer more like the “in your face”-approach with a shotgun. But as of lately I start to enjoy a little bit more concealment. My personal problem with stealth in Starfield is, it’s way to easy, even without stealth meter. And it doesn’t make sense since this suit doesn’t have the Chameleon effect it’s supposed to have, given how virtually nobody is able to see me unless I really douche it up. So I wanted a visual effect to underline this state of the art AI behaviour.
Also, since the days of Daggerfall I don’t wear armor to make my character look good, or to stay in fashion. My cloth of choice is always the one with the best stats, which in return in Starfield meant, I was always using the Hazmat suit only. I wanted that changed.
How’s it done?
1. the Chameleon effect is just the standard legendary effect. I had to add the correct keyword to the suit so the effect would work
2. for the enviromental mod I basically just used the existing Hazmat Suit ENV01 effect
3. the Helmets ENV and DR effects are custom, the -25% detection rate is the same as the suit, and the helmet had to have the same keyword applied as the suit
Keywords are: ap_armor_lining and ap_Legendary_rank_1
How would I use it?
I don’t know? I presume not with the loudest shotgun or Negotiator in your arsenal? Also, you could very well follow the example of the Lodge Decorator:
Follow my instructions please:
1. go to Youtube enter “Smooth Operator” into the search function
2. now listen to the song to memorize it
3. now, with the mod enabled, every time you wear the suit start singing:
“Stealth Operator…Steeeaaaalth Operator”
“Stealth Operator…Steeeaaaalth Operator”
But make sure to not sing too loud or those guards might catch you regardless of your new stealth abilities.
This doesn’t work out of the box when I already have the suit!
I know right? As far as I understand this issue ranges back to Skyrim. If you already have the suit and helmet the changes might not be taken into effect unless you add new items via console, buy them, or get them via quests etc. If that happens you have to console-in the two items, and eventually save and reload the game. So do this:
1. open console
2. type “player.additem 0018B54A” and “player.additem 0016E0C3” without quotes into the console
3. go to your inventory (and optionally save the game, exit the game, reload the game)
4. voila! If not voila see optional under pt. 3
How to install?
Done with currently experimental xEdit, so mind the risk!
According to the developers of Mo2 -> drag&drop, Vortex the same. But if you want to do it full yolo hardcore, do it manually this way:
1. download Plugin enabler and install per instructions
2. add this to your load order .txt file(without quotes) “SO_StealthOperator.esm”
3. move the file inside the .zip to your Starfield/Data folder
4. blatantly ignore anything said about MyGames in the past
5. done
