Same size with vanilla with different quality.
Stones were the first thing that bothered my eyes when I played Starfield for the first time. All the stones feel soft and smooth. When you get closer, the textures are very blurry. It took me a while to look at all the textures and find out why the stones were all so strange.
In the end, the problem is with the textures. This game is actually a bit annoying in terms of texture quality control. Many of the texture qualities seem unfit for a 2023 game. Not to mention the lowest format, aka BC1. Skyrim still uses BC3.
After struggling with hundreds of textures, I forced the textures to be firm, including the pattern. Including the ground stone to give a more 3D impression as an additional detail booster and as an antidote to the normal map which is a bit blurry. I don’t intend to enhance the normal map because there are too many of them and of course the file size could explode. So I decided to take a diffuse and rough map as an addition so that the stone looks more “alive” and not dull and dead.
Restarted the game I can’t remember how many times and tweaked the textures to make it look like the rock I took the picture from the internet… finally finished and the rock looks rough even from a distance.
It looks like 80 percent of the stone textures have been covered in this mod. Until the Asteroid rock also joined in. You will see an asteroid that looks dangerous and very rough. Your ship could be destroyed if it is hit by an asteroid.
Volcano stones, mining stones, Shards stone….and many other shit stones covered.
However, if you look at the stones too close, the blur will definitely still be there because many of the stones are originally only 1K so it’s impossible for you to get very close up details. I originally wanted to upgrade to 4K but after seeing the file size I decided against it. The important thing is that you can enjoy more beautiful games now.
You can see the images directly in my gallery. Stones are also more reactive to wet sensations and light. No longer like a block of mud in the middle of the savannah.
