This mod changes the cosmetics of the Kreet Volcanic Biome. These modifications include the tutorial area around Kreet Research Station. Essentially, this is a “skin pack” for the planet biome and does not affect gameplay mechanics (such as keywords, flora, fauna, resources, etc.) or quests. This mod is aimed at those who want a change of scenery on repeated playthroughs. And lava is always cool. While the lava looks best at night, I have modified the weather and atmosphere so the area still looks stunning during the day.
Various changes:
– Retextured the terrain, including the addition of glowing lava. The lava is purely cosmetic and does not cause thermal damage. For immersion, I made the lava more like a crusted lava rather than a flowy one, so it’s probably okay to walk on it with good protective gear.
– Added customised low fog. At night, the lava glow will illuminate the fog. During the day, the fog height is set to allow the tops of the surrounding hills to peak through, adding an extra layer to the landscape, which looks best during sunrise and sunset.
– Customised the three vanilla weather types (see note on weather below).
– Altered the atmosphere colour of Kreet because the original colour grading made the lava appear yellow. This atmospheric cosmetic change will also affect the other two biomes of Kreet.
INSTALLATION:
Download the main file via a mod manager.
The mod can be installed mid-game.
COMPATIBILITY AND LOAD ORDER:
This mod modifies the following vanilla records and will conflict with other mods that edit the same thing:
– Biome
VolcanicRoughLifeKreet
– Weather
WeatherUniqueKreet_PartlyCloudy_C5_Unique
WeatherUniqueKreet_Clear_C0_Clear
WeatherUniqueKreet_Sandstorm_C1
– Atmosphere
ATMO_Kreet
This mod does NOT edit worldspaces and cells.
Load order:
– This mod should be loaded after mods that edit biomes and weather.
Notes on Weather:
– In the vanilla game, the tutorial area has only one weather (cloudy). If you move further to the surrounding POIs, or if you land on the Volcanic Biome in other regions of the planet, you’ll also encounter clear weather and sandstorms.
– My mod changes all three of the vanilla weather.
– Most weather mods should be compatible if you load my mod after the weather mods. However, since most weather mods add additional weather to an area, you’ll encounter more weather variety, and the chance of getting the vanilla weather is slightly reduced.
– The sandstorm now features a colour filter. This filter, unfortunately, does not show up in Photo Mode. If you want to take a photo during a sandstorm (while your character is getting lung damage), you can compensate for that by using the vanilla Photo Mode filters, or use the tfc 1 and tm console commands, and grab the screenshot using Steam or other Apps.
