A correction to NPCs overly bright eye waterline.
This texture replacement changes the opacity of the watery eyes that make NPCs look like they have seasonal allergies or just want to cry about their day.
In certain lighting I was bothered by the bright white waterline on eyes. This issue doesn’t stand out in all lighting conditions, however it was enough to make me tweak the texture file.
Installation
Extract the folder into your …\Documents\My Games\Starfield directory. This will either create a Data folder for you or add to an existing one.
Add the following lines to the “StarfieldCustom.ini” document within the same folder …\Documents\My Games\Starfield:
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
(I have included my own example .ini as an optional file. It also includes FOV changes. Feel free to use it.):
Make sure to make the specified INI changes and extract to the correct location – otherwise this may not appear in your game
There are two versions available. My changes don’t completely remove the opacity of the sclera wetness – variant #1 reduces it significantly and #2 leans a bit more to vanilla.
Download #2 if you feel the waterline looks too reduced. In my playthrough I’ve switched to the Semi-Dry #2 variant.
Compatibility
Only alters 1 texture file “eye_sclera_opacity.dds” in some cases this can be overwritten by eye texture replacers. Be aware of this when installing other mods to avoid accidentally overwriting this (unless intended).
