This mod fixes the infamous ram dump stutter, also known as horse stop stutter. No matter how powerful your pc is or what graphics settings you’re using, the game will drop your fps into 30s for a second or so followed by a drop in ram usage by 3-5gb. This stuttering can happen anywhere on the map but it’s more common in towns, especially when riding a horse in Saint denis. This mod is inspired by the other “Stutter fix” mod by OmdeHoek. I made a contribution to that mod that narrowed down which exact change in the config file fixed the stuttering but that fix came at the cost of excessive vram usage. Since then I’ve discovered some more things in the config file and have found a way to fix the stuttering without the excessive vram usage issue, you can read more about that in this reddit post of mine.
So if the old stutter fix mod was filling up all your vram rapidly, this mod should fix that problem.
Please note: If you’re running the game on Dx12 the mod might not work, so switch to Vulkan and then the mod should work. Also since this is a “Gameconfig.xml” mod so if you’re using any other gameconfig mod then it will conflict with this mod, but luckily the fix requires a very simple change in the game config file, check out my pinned comment on how to do that.
Installation:
Copy the “Enhanced Stutter fix” folder into the lml folder in your game directory.
Requires Lenny’s mod loader and scripthook.
