This mod remakes the RDR2’s dispatch response system and includes improvements to the law enforcement AI
Lawmen:
In an ordinary town, the Sheriff and Deputies are present. If a major crime occurs, they will request backup from the Rangers and U.S. Marshals. However, their numbers are limited. If you kill all of them, they will give up the chase for a period of time
In more developed urban areas, police will respond. They significantly outnumber the Sheriff and Deputies, but if you manage to kill a substantial number of them, they will request backup from the U.S. Marshals
In Saint Denis, the most prosperous area of the RDR2, the police force is nearly limitless. After committing a major crime, U.S. Marshals won’t arrive immediately—they only enter the city when the situation spirals completely out of control. If you manage to kill a significant number of lawmen, the military will eventually take over, and you’ll face an endless stream of soldiers
In some special areas, such as Sisika, nothing will come except for the prison guards, because it’s a very remote and small island
If you break into Fort Wallace, the army will respond directly and hunt you down
Each region features distinct combat styles and characteristics. In Strawberry, some civilians will assist the lawmen; Valentine’s lawmen are often accompanied by lawdogs; while Annesburg’s forces consist mostly of guards. Rhodes employs more deputies, and the remote state of New Austin and the town of Tumbleweed, with far fewer lawmen than eastern towns, have formed a dedicated Law Posse to keep order
The vast wilderness of Ambarino, lacking any significant settlements, relies on the Rangers as its main lawkeeping force. To cover the expansive territory, they patrol here in greater strength
Forces like the Army, Pinkertons, guards will now order you to surrender. The key difference is they escalate to lethal force immediately upon non-compliance, bypassing the standard warning given by regular lawmen
Lawmen across various towns and cities now wear unique attire based on their location
Bureau of Investigation will respond in Blackwater (only 1907)
Completely overhauls the lawman badge textures and introduces a greater variety of them, alongside adding more law ped
The Tall Trees and Great Plains regions are now fully under the jurisdiction of the Blackwater Police, just like in RDR1. Meanwhile, Scarlet Meadows has been taken over by the Rhodes Sheriff’s Office
More diverse bounty hunter ped
Added dual-wielding lawmen and bounty hunters
Improved military equipment
Lawdogs and Sheriffs now have unique map blips. The Sheriff’s blip is a larger version of the standard lawman blip, while the Lawdog uses a red animal blip
Outlaws:
The relationship between the law and the gangs is no longer one of indifference. They now hold a strong dislike for gang members and will shoot to kill if they witness them committing crimes. The Murfree Brood and the Skinned Brothers, however, are treated with even greater hostility—lawmen will attack them on sight
Some smaller gangs no longer appear as “Strangers.” The Night Folk, Saint Denis Mob, and Foreman Brothers now have their own names
Gang attributes are now unique to each faction—no longer are they all identical. You’ll feel the distinct differences in their combat styles, behaviors, and even their health pools
Each gang has its own unique weapon preferences
Crimes:
Peds will no longer falsely accuse you of stalking them. Regular lawmen won’t eject you for lingering in a law office unless it’s the Sheriff or Police Chief themselves. Furthermore, the timer for being asked to leave has been increased from 30 seconds to 90 seconds
Refines the crime system. For example, murdering a lawman, which was previously displayed simply as “Murder” in the vanilla game, will now be specifically shown as “Murder Lawman”
Committing minor crimes outside of Saint Denis will now be ignored by the law, unless you do it right in front of a lawman. Additionally, the mechanic that would cause police hostility for simply lingering too long on the streets of Saint Denis has been removed
Slightly reduced ped hearing and vision due to time of day and weather conditions
Now lose the same amount of Honor for killing a lawman as you do for killing a regular ped
Bounty slightly improved
Misc:
Fixed character model issues in some arrest after cutscenes
Fixed an issue in the “The Noblest of Men, and a Woman” where a deputy was using the sheriff’s voice line. His model and UI now correctly identify him as the Sheriff
In the hanging random events in Saint Denis and Blackwater, the lawmen are no longer generic deputies. They have been replaced by the local police
Lawmen now respond to crimes in Van Horn and Butcher Creek. However, it’s impossible for any ordinary witnesses to be present there. You’ll only become wanted if you kidnap a lawman and release him in these areas
