1000 Gnome Ann’s Nights

1000 Gnome Ann's Nights

This mod, while works on its own, is best combined with Gnome Ann’s Sky, a mod that adds 100,000 new skies to the game (base game currently only uses 6 skies for all original planets, and a handful more for Lava and Swamp biomes). You can also bolt on Gnome Ann’s Dusks, which adds 1,000 dusks to the game!

Like Gnome Ann’s Sky, 1,000 Gnome Ann’s Nights adds 1,000 custom skies to the game, generated from a hand-tuned algorithm, using custom software I wrote to produce the colours and visualise and tweak the results. The key theme is “variation”. While most of the skies are geared to be stunningly beautiful, and would fit well alongside vanilla palettes, being very tame, no colours are truly ruled out and you can, in keeping with the feel of the game, never truly know what to expect next!

The algorithm produces colours in various levels of “rarity”, so keep hunting for that incredible night that Gnome Ann has imagined before!

Philosophy

After noting that NMS only has 6 vanilla day skies, 1 sunset and 1 night for ALL 19 quintillion planets to share, I decided to write a mod to add more, especially given that other planets in our solar system have variation in their skies, sunsets and nights!
It’s created under the assumption that almost any colour combinations are possible for skies, which is scientifically plausible. Expect not just the beautiful, but the very alien too.
Includes (rarely) some pretty dark nights. Also rarely, some fairly bright ones (that, if lucky, hopefully match the local nebulae)! Variety is the theme.
I will strive to keep the nights exactly the same, i.e. the nights on your favourite planets will always remain the same! (unless HG bork things)

Instructions

This mod can be installed on its own, it does not require any other mods, (not even Gnome Ann’s Sky).
Simply extract the DRKAII_1kGnomeAnnsNights[Companions].pak into your MODS folder.
If you haven’t got this, go to C:\…\Steam Library\steamapps\common\No Man’s Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS and make a MODS folder and stick the mod in there. Then go back up a level to the PCBANKS folder and rename the DISABLEMODS.TXT to something else
