Stealthy Booties Restored V1.0

Stealthy Booties Restored V1.0

Updates the Thicc Outfit Stealth mod by dantemk2 for compatibility with Starfield version 1.11.36.

containing overrides of vanilla meshes, as well as all mods with NIFs containing references to vanilla meshes were broken, such as Thicc Outfit Stealth by dantemk2. While many mod authors have been hard at work fixing their mesh paths and references (huge thanks to jmpz11 for their amazing mod-saving resources, without which there would be a mass graveyard of Starfield mods right now), some authors are no longer active, or just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

If you enjoyed looking sexy while completing the Ryujin questline, and are sad that the author hasn’t gotten around to updating Thicc Outfit Stealth yet, then have no fear for Stealthy Booties Restored is here. If you’re unfamiliar with the original mod, but would like a scarf attached to your venator suit, then first go to the Thicc Outfit Stealth mod page to see the original description if you would like, and then come back here and download the working copy. Literally all this mod does is rename the mesh paths in the Thicc Outfit Stealth mod so that they work in version 1.11.36 of Starfield. No other modifications have been made, and I take absolutely no credit for the work that went into the mesh overrides themselves. All credit goes to dantemk2 for this work, and should they at any point return to update Thicc Spacesuit Starborn, I will simply take this mod page down.

Let it be clear that my only purpose in uploading this mod (really a patch) is to get Thicc Outfit Stealth working again. I have no intention of making any changes to the mesh or textures, and I am in no way dantemk2’s successor in this project. My current puny level of experience and skill with editing meshes honestly kind of blocks me from being able to do such work anyway. So don’t think I’m the right person to ask if you want something changed about this mod. This really isn’t my work, I only renamed a few files just to make it work.

RECOMMENDATIONS
While Thicc Outfit Stealth is a wonderful mod and a great way to make your character and NPCs look a little better while being stealthy, check out this other operative suit mod, Operative Suit Remodeled, by KryoZet. This is the one I personally use.

COMPATIBILITY

This mod will only be incompatible with another mod that overrides the same meshes that this mod does (8b5f5e796ffa282cecd7\e175c478305139f72a80.mesh, 89614909040e8aab5a3b\4a5f503928865e8e42f1.mesh, and de8134e4f8be10f573ba\3d71205dfe89292f9c17.mesh specifically), or that replaces NIFs for Starborn suits that reference custom meshes instead of the vanilla ones. All other mods, including ones that retexture the operative suit, should be perfectly compatible.

INSTALLATION

I’m not personally familiar with any mod managers, and I tend to recommend manual installation. There is a Vortex option for download, and if you have issues with it, I’m not sure I’ll be able to help troubleshoot, but feel free to let me know in the comments if you know what I would need to do to make it work for Vortex users. Otherwise, below are instructions for manual installation.

1. Setup your Starfield installation for compatibility with loose files by ensuring the following lines are placed in C:\Users\{YOUR-USERNAME}\Documents\My games\Starfield\StarfieldCustom.ini (create this file if it isn’t already there, and ensure that it is not saved as StarfieldCustom.ini.txt, and note that by default Windows Explorer hides the file extension):

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

Of course, if you have already done this (which you definitely have if you’ve gotten other loose file mods working in your setup already), you can skip this step.

2. Extract the contents of the zip file to your Starfield\Content\ directory:

3. Make sure Windows hasn’t blocked the downloaded mod files. You can individually righ-click on each file in the mod and go to Properties, and at the bottom you’ll see a note saying that the file is blocked (if that is the case) along with a button to unblock it. Or you can open PowerShell and issue the following command (make sure to replace “PATH\TO” with the actual path on your system):

dir PATH\TO\Starfield\ -Recurse | Unblock-File

This will also unblock any other files that may be blocked by Windows that are in your entire Starfield installation, so no need to double-check any other installed mods for this issue after running this. I personally run this command after installing every single mod, as my Windows system likes to block files downloaded from Nexus Mods. And that may or may not be the case for you too, so this is just a good habit to add to your mod installation routine, unless you double-check and confirm that your system does not seem to be blocking Nexus Mods files for you. For an example of the above command with a specific path, on my personal system the command is:

dir D:\XboxGames\Starfield\ -Recurse | Unblock-File

It might be slightly different for you if you’re a Steam user, or if you’re a Gamepass user like me but have set the installation path of your games to a drive mounted at a different drive letter. And, of course, if Windows has not blocked these files in your case to begin with, this step is not really needed.

4. Launch Starfield and enjoy your new concept art venator look!
