American Quarter Horses

My take on the popular “quarter a mile” horse; the American Quarter Horse! Comes with a new unique model and custom coats 🙂

Author’s Note: I know I’ve remade these a couple times, and I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience, but it’s been really important for me to get them “right”, to be fully satisfied with them myself.
“What’s the point in sharing your creativity if you’re not allowed to grow and improve?”
is what I tend to say. So I truly, truly hope you’ll like these, I have done a completely different take on them, and instead of making the hind extremely large, I focused on balancing the front and make it slimmer compared to the hind. The head has a completely different shape, and I’ve studied the horse a lot to get it as accurate as possible with pretty much everything. The muscles are also more prominent compared to previous models.

The horses in RDR2 walk with their necks upright unless you’re backing up, and I think that’s what confuses most people when they say they want a more “accurate” model for this breed. AQH’s are known for their relaxed posture. So I tell you, this was not an easy breed to make by any means. Either, the hind would look way too thick or go way too high up, or the head would be way too small and unnatural if I was to go for this “standard” idea people have of this breed and from what they’ve seen on the internet. I, myself, have just gone back to riding after a few years where I wasn’t able to, and it so happens to be a Quarter Horse I got acquainted with. And I have to say, the standard that’s set up for this horse, is all wrong. Horses are just like people and come in different shapes, musculature and head to body ratio. Also, keep in mind that the game has some limits, if I changed the hind scale, it would also affect the belly and it would look too drafty. If I made the horse shorter in height, it wouldn’t look natural. Yes I know they are rather tiny horses irl, but neither Arthur or John are short persons, and I don’t want it to look like a pony when riding as the main story characters :,) Believe me I tried hard to find a reasonable height.

So please, I don’t want to hear more complaints, I literally can’t take it after the many months of work I’ve put into this, and not being able to fully focus on something else cause I wanted to get these done. Thank you <3 PS: Insatiable Eyes will come back for this model, however I yet have to update his texture since I really wanted to bring his beauty to life even more 🙂

Now when that’s said, let’s move on to something more important, and quite exciting. As you probably have seen, I have now organised the horses differently and into packs, to make it easier for everyone. But what’s more important, these can now be installed directly into the LML folder! Yes, you no longer need to struggle with that awful messy stream folder (if you don’t want to, that is). And in that way, you will know exactly where my horses are located, if you ever wanted to tinker with them or replace something.
I hope you’ll like this change!

The coat variations for this breed would originally look pretty straightforward; most common would be plain colors, like palomino and chestnuts/sorrels. However it is possible for Overos to be registered now, and that includes subpatterns like Sabino and Splash. Patterns like Tovero and Tobiano have yet to be discovered in this breed. Therefore, my babies here look pretty colorful and unique 🙂

OBS!
The horse’s appearance will change depending on its weight. The hind and belly might not look like my “correct” model if it’s set too high. You can change the horse’s weight with Rampage Trainer but note that this only works on your active saddle horse that must have reached at least bonding level 1.

TO CHANGE THE HORSE TO REPLACE A DIFFERENT ONE THAN THE ONE I’VE ASSIGNED, SIMPLY RENAME THE “.ymt” TO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING HORSES:

I know we all like the ability to customise our horses, and for that reason, I will allow you to change the color of a horse’s eyes. I could make 2 variations of each horse with blue & brown eyes but that would just be tedious and hard for me to manage, both with the files and the images xD

So, in order to do this, you need to open the .YMT file. You do this with the standard notes app. In here, you’ll need to search for one of the two following lines. You do this by clicking on Ctrl+F. Then paste one of these codes:

0x74791D3A is the code for blue eyes

0x25D15B14 is the code for brown eyes

Depending on what horse you’re modifying, replace the code you find with either of those 2 🙂
